Join us on a once in a lifetime experience! We have Hot Air Balloon Safaris launching from the centre of Pilanesberg National Park.
Guests are collected early morning by a registered field guide, in an open safari vehicle from their respective hotels at Sun City Resort or lodges in Pilanesberg area. Day visitors can be collected from Bakubung Gate. The transfer through the park takes approximately an hour as the balloon launch site is situated in the center of the Pilanesberg National Park. At the launch site the guests will be met by the pilot and crew, who will proceed to give a briefing. Guests will then embark in a 1,2 metre high basket and commence on an unforgettable experience that lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. This will undoubtedly be the finest way of viewing the inhabitants of the Pilanesberg National Park. On landing, guests will be served with sparkling wine, orange juice and breakfast canapes. Each guest will receive a first flight certificate signed by the Pilot. After a mini game drive, guests will be returned to their respective hotels. The total duration of this activity is approximately ±5 hours.
VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE! This activity is extremely weather dependent and a minimum of 4 people are required for the flight to take place. It is advisable that guests book 2 or 3 consecutive mornings as a backup plan.

The exact departure time will only be confirmed by the Gametrackers Tour Coordinator directly with guests, on the evening before the flight between 17h30 and 18h00.
Please note that there is an age restriction of 7 years for this activity. Guests are to be reasonably fit, as they are required to climb into a 1.2-metre high balloon basket and be able to crouch down on their haunches on landing.
Due to safety reasons, pregnant women are not able to do this activity

Thank you for an awesome morning from start to finish. We were lucky to be in a small group, a very intimate experience. All the staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and there to make the experience special. Explanations were given on all workings and we definitely felt in safe and very experienced hands!! Not once did we feel there was any rush whatsoever on the contrary, in fact the drive back for breakfast lasted far longer than expected as we saw fantastic game not to be rushed past. Highly recommended. Quietly professional yet we learned a great deal just by listening during both the drive to and from (thanks Peter) and asking questions of Darren during the flight. Hats off to our pilot who got all the right information across at the right time with a lovely manner. We had a smooth landing, saw more animals and had a good conversation before moving onto a good breakfast. Would we go again or recommend to someone else ? Without hesitation. Wow.... just wow. At first we felt the ballon ride was a bit over priced, but seing the whole setup in the very first morning light, while the balloons were filling, made us understand. And the experience was just breathtaking. I don't think there are many places on Earth where you get a more spectacular and more beautiful backdrop for the experience. We saw plenty of game - especially many rhinos and giraffes. It is definitely one of those mornings we will carry in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
